FAQ

Common questions

Hardware, pricing, API keys, and running events — straight answers for operators.

Yes. Write a prompt in the app and use Save as Template to store it under User Created or your own category. Custom templates support guest names, logo integration, previews, and work with the live queue and print setup — just like built-in styles.

Yes. Need a school mascot pack, a brand activation set, or a one-of-a-kind wedding look? We can build custom themes for you — priced separately from the software license — and deliver them ready to load in Event AI Studio. Open Settings → Feedback in the app and send what you have in mind.

Star any built-in or custom template to add it to your Favorites bar on the main booth dashboard. During events, switch styles in one tap without scrolling the full library.

Yes. Guests share the same theme template — superhero, movie poster, coloring book, etc. — but the AI creates a new scene every time: different pose, background, props, and details. It's not a fixed filter applied to every photo.

Yes — instantly, on your laptop. Before each capture you can enter the guest’s name and optional theme or style flair (dance theme, princess vibes, sports team, etc.). That data goes straight into the live prompt for that image. You don’t upload templates or guest text to Event AI Studio’s servers — styles live in the desktop app, and generation uses your own OpenAI or Gemini key.

Upload the client or sponsor logo in Settings or the Prompt panel, then enable Include company logo in AI generation. The AI weaves the logo into the generated image — on signage, uniforms, merchandise, and props inside the scene. That's different from a traditional photo booth PNG overlay stamped on top of a normal photo. For pixel-perfect logo placement on prints, you can still add a PNG overlay in Print Setup.

Each paid night (or client) gets its own event workspace — queue history, print layout, and optional cloud folder named after the event. Create Event before doors open; Load Event to reopen later for reprints without mixing jobs from different clients.

Print a numbered contact sheet of AI styles (letter pages, 9 looks each). Guests browse on paper and tell you a number; type that Style # on the queue and press Enter. Saving or printing locks the numbers for that event so the menu stays accurate.

Connect Dropbox or Google Drive in Settings → Cloud Accounts. Photos can upload into a folder named after the event. On the presentation TV, show a gallery QR (and optional per-photo QR on each image). Guests scan and download on their phone’s cellular data — they don’t need the venue Wi‑Fi. You can drag and resize QRs on the presentation window.

No. A USB webcam is enough for excellent AI results. Pro cameras are optional, do not improve generation quality, and create larger files that slow uploads. Use watch folder only if you already tether with manufacturer software.

Any USB webcam works. 1080p is plenty. The app includes a Recommended Gear list (footer) with gear we use at events, including the EMEET C960 4K.

Any printer your OS supports. DNP dye-sublimation is common at events — driver links are in the app. Hot folder output works with Dropbox, Google Drive, booth software, or any folder you point at.

On a normal event night with a solid connection, generations usually finish in about 8–15 seconds — often around 10 seconds. Other AI booth apps we’ve used in the field often took 3–7 minutes per image, which kills a live line. Internet quality and AI provider congestion can make ours take longer too — always bring a backup hotspot and test before doors open.

You pay OpenAI or Google directly — typically about 2–10¢ per image depending on model (often around a nickel to a dime). Event AI Studio does not sell credits or mark up API usage. Other credit-based AI booth apps we’ve used often landed around 40–80¢ per generation. At a busy event, that difference adds up fast.

Download and install without a license key. You get every booth feature — all styles, custom templates, favorites, queue, printing, and presentation screen. Connect your own Gemini or OpenAI API key in Settings.

Every AI image in demo mode includes a permanent watermark baked into the file. There is no generation limit for testing. When you buy a license, enter your key in Settings → License — new outputs are clean right away. Photos you already saved in demo keep their watermark.

Full demo breakdown on the Download page →

Yes — that's demo mode. Download free, run the full app at home, and activate a license when you're ready for client-facing events.

7 Day and 30 Day licenses run on one computer. 1 Year and V1 Perpetual include two computer seats. Transfer/deactivate policies are in the checkout terms.

Yes — internet is required for AI. Every stylized image is processed by OpenAI or Gemini in the cloud. The booth UI runs on your laptop, but generation will not work offline. Always bring a backup hotspot (or second connection) to every venue — we are not responsible if venue Wi‑Fi fails. Once images are already generated, reprint and the local queue can still work if the connection drops briefly. Always thoroughly test capture → generate → print → guest QR before a real client event.

No — Event AI Studio is a Mac and Windows desktop app, not an iPad app.

This isn’t a typical self-serve photo booth where guests walk up, touch a screen, and run everything themselves. It’s a hosted activation: an operator (you or your staff) runs the experience for each guest — capture, style, print, and delivery.

Think of it like Santa photos at the mall. Guests show up for the moment; someone behind the camera guides them, controls the flow, and makes sure every shot lands. That’s how Event AI Studio works — your laptop is the host station, and guests enjoy the show on the presentation TV and leave with a unique AI print or QR download.

Running on a full computer also keeps the queue, printing, dual screens, and event tools solid for a busy night — which is why we built it for Mac and Windows first.

Either. Most operators use Windows at events for broad hardware support. Mac builds are fully supported with auto-update. There is no iPad version — see Is there an iPad app? above.

Desktop app auto-updates. Footer → Check for Updates for manual check. What's New shows release notes after each version.

Open Settings → Feedback in Event AI Studio. Use that form for support questions, custom theme requests, feature ideas, and bug reports — we read every submission. Messages go through the app, not email.

Still stuck?

We're event operators too — we get event-day pressure. Open Settings → Feedback in the app to send a message, request a feature, or report a bug.
